Did you know that in Quitman, Georgia, US, it is illegal for a chicken to cross the road!!! Some laws are so silly :)

If you could create any rule you wanted, what would it be?!

What's up in your stomach?!

My favourite snack is peanut butter ice cream, but I can't always have that because it's not healthy. So when it's time for a healthy snack my favourite is apples dipped in peanut butter! It sounds weird but it's super yummy and as a bonus for my mom, it's healthy.

What's your favourite healthy snack?!

Make it Matter Monday!! Blessed are those who mourn...

This week in Sunday School we talked about the second Beatitude - "blessed are those who mourn for they will be comforted".  If you are mourning it just means that you are really sad....but this verse isn't saying that God wants us to be sad.
Our Sunday School teacher told us that a long time ago when the Bible was written they didn't speak English so it was mostly written in Greek. So the Greek word used in this beatitude is 'pantheo'...which is a funny sounding word which can mean three things.
1) Mourning here could mean regular sadness from everyday things....like when your friend says something mean about you, you get a bad mark in school or you fall off your bike and scape your knee. God cares about all these things and will be there for you when you're sad.
2) Mourning could be over social justice. We did a unit on that last year in school and social justice is when  we feel sad for people in the world who are treated unfairly and try and do something to make them feel better. We will be favoured by God when we try and improve unfair conditions in the world. Like when we sponsor a child, or we send supplies over to other countries who have gone through a terrible disaster like an earthquake.
3) It can mean Godly mourning. This one probably happens most often. Have you ever done something wrong and then felt really really bad about it? I sure have. One time when I was shopping with my mom I asked her to buy me some gum and she said I couldn't have it. But it was my favourite flavour and I wanted it really bad, so I put it in my pocked :( I felt SO bad later that night that I had to tell my mom. She told me that first thing in the morning we would go back to the store and I would have to apologize to the store manager and promise to pay for the gum out of my allowance. Then we prayed together and I told God how super sorry I was and I really meant it. After we prayed I felt so much better. I knew that God forgave me because I was really sorry.

So when we're sad in any of those ways, God will be there for us. No matter how big or small out problems are God wants us to be happy will be there to comfort us! He's so awesome!!

What's up at the Zoo!

I had an AMAZING day yesterday!!! My family and I went to African Lion Safari...which is like a drive through zoo!!! If there wasn't a car between me and some of the animals I could have touched a lion, a zebra and a rhino! They also had a petting zoo area where I got attacked by goats who tried to eat my skirt! And we saw a bird show and an elephant show! The elephants were doing handstands, playing soccer and basketball and one of them even painted a shirt!!! Normally at the zoo my favourite animals would have been the hippos - I just love how they chill out in the water. But this zoo didn't have any hippos so my favourite part was the elephants!

What's your favourite zoo animal? How come?!

Make it Matter Monday!! Blessed are the poor in spirit...

A super long time ago...like really really long ago, Jesus used to like to talk to his friends and teach them all kinds of lessons. He would talk to HUNDREDS of people at one once, but back then they didn't have microphones or speakers or anything so he liked to talk to them from the top of hills. When he was on these hills he was so high up everyone could hear him because of the way the sound travels...kind of like an echo. Anyways, this one time when he was on a hill he gave a famous talk that everyone calls 'The Sermon on the Mount'....which just means, the big talk on the big mountain. You can find this in your Bible in Matthew chapter 5 verses 1-12 (HINT: Matthew is found in the second half of the Bible called the New Testament). At the beginning of the big talk on the big mountain Jesus talks about something called 'the Beatitudes' and we've been learning all about them in Sunday School lately, so I'm gonna share with you what I've been learning.

The first beatitude goes like this: "blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" and I think that sounds confusing. But when it was explained to me it made a lot of sense. So here it is.
Blessed just means you are favoured....as in you're on of God's favourites!!! So from here we could re-write the verse like this: "favourites of God are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Now we just have to look at what 'poor in spirit means'. When we think of poor people we think of people who have to live on the street and beg for money and food because they don't have any of their own. They need us to help them out because there is no possible way they could feed themselves...cause they have no money. My mom likes to buy those people subway sandwiches! But Jesus wasn't talking about the people who my mom buys subway for, he's talking about the poor in spirit. That means that we can't do anything without God's help....there is no possible way in all the world that we could be good or go to heaven without his help. So: favourites of God are those who are totally dependent on him!! (kinda sounds like something Yoda would say!!!!)
God loves it when we remember how awesome he has been to us and how without him we are nothing. So remember to thank God for the spiritual subway sandwich!

Fun Friday!!

Do you know what a rebus puzzle is? It's where you are shown a picture or some words but they really stand for something else. I love trying to figure out what they mean and I'm hoping you will too! So, for my first Fun Friday I'm going to give you a rebus puzzle to try and solve. Hint: It's a common saying.

Give it your best shot and you can post your guesses below, and we'll see if anyone get's it right! Good luck!!!

What's Up Wednesday?!

Today it was super sunny here and me and Andie...she's my BFF....we went on a long bike ride to the park. My bike is awesome! I got it for my 7th birthday last year, it's bright bright yellow and it has a super cool bee charm on one of my front tire spokes. Anyways, we had so much fun going as fast as we could and then playing tag on the playground equipment!

So for my first What's Up Wednesday, I want to know, what's your favourite thing to do outside on a sunny day?
Let me know what's up!!!!

My first post!!!!!!!!!!

I'm SO excited! This is my first post EVER on my very own blog! When I asked my parents if I could start my own blog and they said they'd have to think about it I was really worried they would say no. But they didn't! They said YES and here a I am!
I am going to post three times a week. There will be 'Make it Matter Mondays', 'What's up Wednesdays' and 'Fun Fridays'. On Make it Matter Mondays I'll post about what I learned in church on Sunday. The Bible sometimes confuses me cause it's full of big words and old people but I also find it helpful and that's the part I want to share with you. On What's up Wednesdays I'm gonna want to know what's up with YOU! I'll ask a question and you answer it! Then on Fun Fridays they'll be all kinds of fun so make sure to check it out.
So anyways, I'm really excited to have this blog and I hope you like it! OH! And remember to ask your parents before you post...my mom made me promise to tell you that :)

See you every Monday, Wednesday and Friday!!!
